Something is rotten in Shushan… The king is somewhat less than kingly… His last wife thinks she’s still the queen… His new wife is an amazon princess named Hadassah but who will soon be known as Esther… And the apotheosis of evil, the baron of badness, counselor to all who connive, otherwise known as Haman, is busy plotting his eventual takeover of everything. Will Esther be our Wonder Woman?

Purim – Sinai Style
The story of Purim, from the Book of Esther, tells about how Queen Esther and her cousin Mordechai save the Jews of Persia from Haman, the king’s evil prime minister. Sinai celebrates this holiday in a multitude of ways…..
• We retell the story of Purim through a spiel and by chant-ing directly from the Scroll of Esther.
• We dress in costume (to hide our identity as Esther did in the story).
• We have a Purim Carnival
• We bid on the baskets in the Purim Basket Silent Auction running February 16-28 in the Sinai lobby
• We eat Hamentaschen (the traditional three-sided pastery which represents Haman’s hat).
• We give Mishloach Manot….or “giving gifts”. Click here for more info on our school's Mishloach Manot fundraiser.
