Karen Berk joined the staff of Congregation Sinai as Director of Administration in September 2009. Her responsibilities include management of the synagogue’s office, budget, and facilities.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Karen first came to Wisconsin in 1993 for work.   Karen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration with a focus on Personnel, Labor Relations and Management from Indiana University in Bloomington.  Over her extensive HR Benefits career, Karen worked for Jim Beam Brands Company, American Brands, Master Lock Company, Jockey International, and Johnson Diversey.   In the Jewish Community, Karen spent many summers in her youth as a camper and on staff at OSRUI, held youth group leadership positions throughout high school, taught Hebrew and Religious School, and was a Youth Group Advisor.  Over the years, Karen has also held several lay leadership positions at Sinai – Chair of several search committees, Board Trustee, and Ritual Committee Chair.

Through Karen’s Jewish communal and professional experiences she brings a great deal of skill, talent, and knowledge to her position and to the Sinai family. Karen is also the proud mom of Lydia, Nason and Tim Lancina.
